Many military veterans and serving personnel suffer from mental and physical injury due to their time in service. Overcoming these challenges and transitioning into civilian life or continuing their military careers can be a difficult and isolating process for some and can result in unemployment, homelessness and untreated medical conditions.

Waterloo Uncovered combines world-class archaeology on the Waterloo battlefield with a programme of care, recovery and transition into civilian life for military veterans and serving personnel suffering from some of the physical and mental impacts of their service. This project offers an innovative, holistic approach to support, and provides veterans with experiences useful to recovery and transition. Archaeology with WU can act as a vehicle or catalyst in promoting positive change in wellbeing.
