Situation
Despite the UK’s reputation as world leaders in theatre-making, access to theatre across the country is hugely uneven. Londoners choose from the cream of the crop, but the regions have been left behind. It hasn’t always been this way, but it’s getting worse - and Covid has accelerated the problem, with theatre makers across the country struggling to find work, and venues and companies forced to close.
Solution
Wise Children’s mission is to change this. We make work of the highest quality which has been specifically designed to tour, revitalising the regional theatre industry as we go. We are one of the only companies touring large-scale devised work to UK venues. Our work is celebrated for being boundary-breaking, but it is also playful and accessible, speaking to local communities and attracting large and diverse audiences nationwide.
