Cambridgeshire communities must work together for a green recovery from Covid-19 and to play our part in reducing carbon emissions. Zero Carbon Streets, led by a new infrastructure campaigner, will help local people turn ideas for active travel improvements into changes that will make a difference.

Situation
Transport is the largest source of carbon emissions in Cambridgeshire (44%). It is clear that we need a significant and urgent modal shift from polluting cars to active and sustainable forms of transport to reduce carbon emissions, air pollution and road danger. Safe and attractive infrastructure is essential to get more people walking and cycling. Local communities across the county need more support to develop and campaign for the improvements they need to make more active travel possible.
Solution
Better infrastructure is proven to increase rates of active travel. Local people have ideas for cycling and walking improvements, but often lack the technical and policy knowledge to develop proposals. Camcycle has helped many community groups to develop successful campaigns, but demand for this work is growing. Through Zero Carbon Streets, our Infrastructure Campaigner will provide the support local people deserve and empower as many communities as possible to work for change.
