Situation
The economic fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic in Bangladesh has pushed 24.5 million people into abject poverty (PPRC-BIGD survey 2021). Bangladesh has a strong mobile-based & digital culture; however, those in poverty remain digitally excluded. Without the internet & digital skills training, mothers leaving Sreepur Village will find it difficult to access employment & vocational training opportunities, health & educational services & promote their small businesses & be financially independent.
Solution
Our project will focus on digital literacy and inclusion for impoverished single mothers at Sreepur Village, Bangladesh in order to strengthen their income generating skills & long-term financial security for themselves and their families. We will do this by providing traditional & digital literacy training as well as piloting the "Sreepur village app" for vulnerable single mothers.
