There is often no NHS funding for powered mobility for very young children, and families with disabled children can face multiple financial challenges. Papworth Trust estimates that it costs three times more to raise a disabled child. 95% of families with disabled children do not have access to equipment they need. Without access to independent mobility young disabled children face limitations at a crucial developmental stage, which can impact confidence and independence later in a child’s life.

Through our pioneering loan scheme children receive a Wizzybug powered wheelchair for free, using it for as long as they can benefit. Wizzybugs are then serviced and passed to the next family. Designed for children, Wizzybugs are fun, colourful and inviting so that children want to use it and their friends want to know what it is! Wizzybugs allow children to play and explore their surroundings at an important developmental stage, building a child’s confidence and independence from an early age.
