Wintercomfort support men and women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Cambridge, many of whom live with addiction, mental health issues and a history of abuse. Via long term support, we work to bring lasting, positive change to the lives of the most vulnerable within our community.

    Situation

Despite the many challenges the charity has faced over its 30 years, none has been as profound as the Covid-19 Pandemic. The effects of the crisis continue to impact our community as many people face job losses and significant financial hardship leading to homelessness. We are experiencing a significant increase in demand for our services across all areas of support and have noticed a particular increase in Service Users experiencing significant levels of anxiety and other mental health issues.

    Solution

Wintercomfort provide extensive support to empower our Service Users to access housing, training and employment opportunities to achieve long-lasting positive change within their lives. We offer support with literacy, work experience and employment opportunities via our social enterprise scheme. We provide counselling for those with issues of mental health, addiction, domestic and sexual abuse. We also provide daily meals, showers, clothing and regular health clinics for rough sleepers.
