With your help, we want to end homelessness for as many people as possible and offer support so that they can begin their next chapters in their own homes. Caritas Anchor House is based in the London Borough of Newham, which has the highest levels of homelessness in England.

Situation
We are in the midst of a housing crisis, and the London Borough of Newham – where we are based - has the highest rate of homelessness in the country. Here, 1 in 23 people have nowhere to call home. Rough sleeping in the borough is at an all-time high, and more people are losing their homes as a result of the pandemic. As the largest provider of services for homeless people in Newham, the safe place to stay and the support that we offer through our 140 bed spaces has never been so important.
Solution
For 278 residents last year, we provided a safe place to call home, a range of health and wellbeing support, educational opportunities and employability training. We work with the local authority, housing associations and private landlords to ensure that residents can move on to homes of their own and leave homelessness behind for good. Thanks to the Big Give challenge last year, we are increasing our bed spaces from 140 to 155 which will allow us to help more people than ever before.
