In the UK, one in every four premature deaths is caused by cardiovascular disease and 20% of deaths by respiratory disease, despite a growing awareness of risk factors, such as smoking and poor diet, the prevalence of such diseases is increasing. Royal Papworth Hospital, the UK’s largest specialist cardiothoracic hospital and leading heart and lung transplant centre, aims to provide solutions to this global epidemic.

Royal Papworth Charity is dedicated to supporting heart and lung disease research. Royal Papworth Hospital research studies have the potential to capture new data, discover treatments and develop devices to offer hope for patients with heart and lung disease. The Research Innovation Fund will prioritise and support clinical studies with the clear potential to improve patient care with a significant bench to bedside approach which will benefit patients now and in the future.
