Southbank Sinfonia's annual Fellowship, a celebrated development programme for gifted graduate musicians, is a vital component of the UK music scene. As well as alleviating poverty among young players at a difficult time before they enter the music profession, we produce musicians as required by orchestras today who not only play well but possess all the other skills required to thrive in an ensemble. Many players currently emerge from college with only limited knowledge of the core repertoire.

Southbank Sinfonia occupies a unique position between music colleges and the profession. Conservatoires value the quality and depth of our orchestral immersion for which they themselves do not have the scope. We provide a stepping stone into the industry and the support of a bursary. Players learn to become strong orchestral players after years of individual focus, confident communicators and innovative artists with an awareness of the physical and mental health required of a musician.
