A third of children live below the poverty line in Camden. With levels of deprivation set to increase following the pandemic, those children facing hardship are more likely to miss out on music-making. Sadly, take up of music lessons and ensembles has already fallen, and some of our gifted musicians are now finding it impossible to continue with their learning at a pivotal point when, through their music education, real life opportunities such as further education, university and careers.
We want to offer young musicians the support they need to realise real-life opportunities by: • Raising money to make sure children from low-income families can have the opportunity to experience and develop musically. • Creating a new fund that provides targeted financial support for talented children between the ages of 14 and 17 years (year 10 - year 13) who have completed a four-year scholarship, but who need further financial support to continue their learning.
