Please support Create ~ Charity of the Year 2020 ~ to deliver creative arts workshops to young carers in London. Create's workshops have a positive impact on mental health & wellbeing whilst helping young carers to develop skills, build relationships and have fun away from their caring responsibilities.

Situation
Young carers are children or young people who care for a relative, usually their parent. They take on a level of responsibility well beyond their years. A Carers Trust survey into the impact of Coronavirus shows a steep decline in the mental health & wellbeing of the hundreds of thousands of young carers across the UK. Coronavirus has significantly increased the pressures on young carers; 69% feel less connected; 66% feel more stressed; and 40% say their mental health is worse since Coronavirus.
Solution
Create delivers creative arts projects with young carers. Having an emotional outlet is key to improving mental health, especially with the impact of Coronavirus on wellbeing. In response to social distancing measures, Create developed a video-conferencing delivery model (Create Live!). Each project enables young carers to develop their creativity, trust, peer relationships and social skills; enhance their self-esteem; and have fun away from their caring responsibilities.
