Sun bears & moon bears are two of the world's most vulnerable bear species. Their numbers in the wild are declining due to forest destruction, hunting & poaching for the illegal wildlife trade. Mother bears are killed or maimed & their cubs suffer a life of pain & misery in illegal bear bile farms or the illegal wildlife trade.
Free the Bears has helped rescued almost 1,000 bears & operates rescued bear sanctuaries in 3 countries. We work with our government partners to rescue bears & rehabilitate them in our sanctuaries, relieving them from a life of suffering & ensuring a future for the species. We also research wild bears & provide education, training and employment to rural communities, key to the future protection of the forest & endangered species.
