The 6th December is the 140th Anniversary of the parish of St Margaret's in Olton. To mark our birthday during this difficult year when our fundraising and income streams have been hit by the pandemic we are raising funds for the ongoing work and witness of our church at the centre of our community.

Situation
St Margaret's Church was born of local generosity. The first vicar Revd Arthur Butler said "time talent, money, houses, horses, heads, hands and hearts were freely offered". 140 years on it’s been a difficult few months. The lockdowns have hit us financially affecting our hall bookings, plate giving and fundraising events. But we want remain at the heart of the community to serve and to witness to our hope in the gospel.
Solution
At the Sunday first service on 12th December 1880 the first collection amounted to £95.2s.1d. Taking into account inflation that would be the equivalent of a collection worth £11,515 todays money. This is about the level of the level of income that we will have lost this year as a result of the pandemic. It would be great if we could go some way towards tackling this deficit during this special one-off collection on 6th December 2020, although we’re not accepting horses!
