BME children and young people face entrenched inequality and discrimination. They have been disproportionately affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and will remain in crisis long after the virus has passed. We stand up for their rights and empower them to reach a place of stability.

We exist to support children and young people with rights-based issues, e.g. school exclusion, involvement in the criminal justice system and homelessness. These issues disproportionately affect BME communities facing institutional racism. Their situation has worsened through the pandemic with BME children more likely to have lost role models, be detained in custody and be from low income households. These factors contribute to trapping them in negative cycles which it is difficult to escape.

We help children and young people navigate challenges with our unique model combining direct advocacy, development opportunities, legal advice and representation. Young people are supported by advocates, lawyers and youth opportunities who provide a joined-up package of help. They use expert knowledge of the system to prioritise wellbeing, working with clients for as long as they need on any issues they need. We also provide hardship support in cases of direct need, more frequently than before.
