The sense of disconnection between families, young and old, parents and children, people and their environment has been made worse by Covid19. We reconnect relationships by working in in teams together outdoors across generations by 'rewilding' parts of our rural centre for healing and restoration.

    Situation

For 40 years we have 'tamed' our beautiful - but very practical - grounds, using them as a place of recreation (football & games etc.). But we have neglected their potential as places of peace, learning, restoration and connection. Many who visit and volunteer with us have experienced trauma, lack trust and hope, are isolated or have little to no awareness of, or connection with the natural world or with people from different age groups.

    Solution

By creating mixed age volunteer groups we've begun a process of 're-wilding' - planting native species, creating spaces, outdoor 'rooms' where people can reconnect, learn, heal and enjoy a new adventure of learning to love our peaceful environment together. We want new relationships to grow and form between people of all ages. Older people to come out of isolation, and young people to gain a love and passion for enjoying new ways to relate to older people.
