Through a programme of empowerment and educational activities, such as English lessons, drama, yoga and public speaking courses, we support around 300 asylum-seeking and refugee women in the UK to develop their confidence and skills, rebuild their lives and communicate their own needs and stories.

Asylum-seeking women arrive in the UK with all stages of education and skills, but are then locked out of mainstream educational provision and live in extreme poverty. Even when they are granted refugee status, they often remain isolated and struggle to access the labour market due to lack of skills and experience. We provide educational and empowerment activities which enable women to rebuild their confidence and communicate their own needs and stories.

We will solve the problem through providing empowerment and educational activities so women can develop their skills, which will eventually help them in returning to mainstream education and employment and participating fully in their communities. These activities include English lessons, drama, public speaking and yoga, which will enable women to develop their skills, support their personal empowerment and wellbeing and reduce social isolation.
