Safe drinking water saves lives. It allows communities to stay healthy and practice hygiene to reduce the spread of disease. However, only 13% of the rural population in Madagascar have access to safe water. It's now more than ever that we aim to bring safe and clean water to these communities.

The limited access to clean water coupled with poor sanitation and hygiene practices are of particular concern in this region, especially given the link with the spread of the coronavirus as well as chronic malnutrition and diarrhoea. It's estimated that at least 25% of under-5 mortality and half of under-5 stunting is due to water-related diseases (UNICEF). The community relies upon open, unprotected water sources, spending significant time to fetch water resulting in children missing school.

Adsum Foundation aims to drill 1 borehole well in the community. We will use our trusted long-term partner, Ny Tanintsika to drill the well and share education and training on WASH principles with the local community. We will build upon our successful track record which has seen 149+ clean water projects completed so far, impacting 50,450+ people with access to safe & sustainable sources of water. The borehole well will give individuals time and greater investment in their community.
