Situation
The Passage is facing the biggest challenge in our 40 year history. We responded quickly during both lockdowns to safely move hundreds of rough sleepers into temporary accommodation. The continuing Covid-19 pandemic and economic crisis means that many more are now at risk of unemployment and losing their home. As winter approaches, The Passage needs to be there to help those who are street homeless into safety, whilst also enabling people to move on to permanent accommodation and employment.
Solution
We offer practical, hands on support to help homeless people help themselves. Our Resource Centre has recently been transformed into a new ‘Advice and Support Hub’, offering a safe space and tailored advice. The centre also provides hot food, showers, clothing and laundry. Despite the pandemic and economic crisis, we support up to 100 homeless people daily, many of whom are newly street homeless, into safe and secure accommodation and employment; helping them to end their homelessness for good.
