The winter months are some of the most difficult for young homeless people. The demand for our services has grown since the onset of the Crisis and the need is now as great as ever. By donating, you will help hyh continue providing vital services supporting 16 to 24 year olds across Hertfordshire.

    Situation

Homelessness has a detrimental effect on an individual’s physical, mental health, employment, education prospects and relationships. 85% of older homeless were first homeless as teenagers. Many young people in Hertfordshire are 'hidden homeless', sofa-surfing, living in temporary accommodation or rough sleeping which could be prevented. Our experience shows that safe accommodation is the foundation from which a successful independent life can be achieved.

    Solution

Our focus is on preventing homelessness by empowering young people to make informed choices whilst supporting them and their families through our free services. We supported over 2,200 young people last year which included improving family relationships, building confidence and self esteem as well as maintaining independent living. We have adapted our services since the Crisis, supporting young people according to their needs, offering advice and guidance whilst partnering with other agencies.
