To help 25 disadvantaged young people overcome the damaging effects of lockdown by taking part in a potentially life-changing voyage. The experience will lift them from their everyday life, give them a new focus and enable them to develop the skills/confidence needed to positively move on with life.

Situation
Covid-19 & lockdown has had a seriously detrimental effect on the mental health/wellbeing of the disadvantaged young people we support. Plus, a report by the Resolution Foundation think tank predicts that youth unemployment could rise from 763,000 by 640,000 due to Covid. We aim to change the way these youngsters view themselves & their futures; to equip them with the skills/confidence needed to realise their potential. 97% of our youngsters last year went on to education employment & training.
Solution
The motivation and self-worth of many young people is at an all-time low. Our highly professional crew/trained volunteers fully involve everyone in the onboard activities, encouraging them to concentrate on what they can do, not what they can’t do, which builds opportunity for success, self-esteem & helps them to discover that their horizons are wider than they ever imagined. Young people are respected and valued for their contributions, providing an incredibly positive learning experience.
