The Mayor's Fund for London supports over 40,000 young Londoners from low income and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. Our wellbeing, skills and employment programmes help to ensure 4-24 year olds are healthy, happy and motivated at school whilst increasing their awareness of career pathways, and better preparing them for the world of work.

Situation
Recent research conducted by the Greater London Authority shows that 400,000 children, under the age of 16, struggle to afford or access food. In terms of numeracy, society's attitudes towards maths are encouraging children to give up on the subject too early. Our latest research has also shown that just 17% of London’s professional jobs are occupied by people from lower income backgrounds, compared to 30% nationally. All these issues are being exacerbated by the Covid-19 global pandemic.
Solution
Our Kitchen Social food programme gives children a safe place to go during the holidays where they can socialise & receive a healthy meal. Our Count On Us numeracy programme aims to make maths fun & improve confidence, as well as improve academic attainment. Access Aspiration our flagship employment programme provides careers support and guidance for 16 –18 year olds who are making key decisions about their future. Creativity Works supports young adults aged 18-24 with careers in the creative sector, who are currently not in education or training.
