We help learning disabled adults and children to learn skills that will help them to live independent and healthy lives by promoting a positive approach to work, improving self esteem and encouraging healthy choices. We do this by providing work training, supported employment and respite clubs.

We know that over 35% of people with learning disabilities also have difficulties with their mental health. This can be a barrier to a healthy and fulfilling life and make it even harder for a person with a learning disability to find paid work. Work trainees have spent a long time away from the routine and support of the farm and many have lost skills, have anxieties about the impact of covid19 on their jobs and prospects of jobs and their mental health and wellbeing has been severely affected.

We will develop a project to improve the mental health of our work trainees and children who come to the Young Ranger Club. We will help people to manage their mental health by creating awareness about how the choices that they make every day can have a big impact on how they feel. We want to run a project that has a positive focus, promotes feeling good and is preventative. We will also offer signposting and self help techniques that can be used when extra support is needed.
