Enabling socially and economically underprivileged people with disabilities to benefit from the 'Bendrigg Experience' - social inclusion, inclusive adventure and residential experience. Without this financial aid, our visitors would simply not be able to benefit from these life-enhancing experiences

Situation
People with a disability or encountering social disadvantage face multiple barriers to reaching their full potential and being all they can be in a fully inclusive society. A third of households with a disabled person cannot afford to pay for a week's annual holiday away from home whilst 86% of families with a disabled child go without leisure activities. An individual's financial situation should not be a barrier to them taking part in activities that could enhance their lives.
Solution
It's important to us that our courses are accessible to all regardless of financial or social disadvantage. The Bendrigg Bursary enables socially & economically underprivileged people with disabilities to benefit from social inclusion, residential experiences and inclusive adventure. This was important before Coronavirus but with over half a million people missing out on a residential this year and 2 million households going through lockdown without a garden, it is now more important than ever.
