Windows to keep out the heavy Ugandan rain would be a luxury for Magejjo Primary School. Even though we have repaired the leaking roof on half the classrooms, rain still lashes in through the unglazed windows. Learning suffers and the future of the children is less bright. Please help them!

Heavy rain frequently disrupts lessons in Magejjo School: children's learning suffers. This is partly solved. We have replaced the leaking rood on Block 1, so some lessons can now take place in the dry. Lightning conductors have also been installed as thunderstorms are common. (The school was burnt down in 1999 following a lightning strike). However, rain still lashes through the unglazed windows and teaching has to stop. Work has yet to begin on repairing the leaky roof of Block 2.
The Kanyike Project has already provided £1,670 towards the costs of the roof and the lightning conductors. The villagers themselves have contributed by making 10,000 bricks worth £450, as well as supplying manual labour and fetching water. Through our joint effort, we are committed to finishing the work on Block 1. We must next install glazed windows and plaster the walls. The teachers will buy the paint and paint the walls themselves. Then we can start work to improve Block 2 of the school.
