Situation
The National Children’s Bureau (NCB) works to champion the rights of children and young people across the UK through research, influencing policy, and running programmes. Today, the challenge is greater than ever. In an age of austerity, we’ve witnessed funding for children’s services cut by half; with a devastating impact on young lives. Children deserve to be able to use their voices to build a better childhood for themselves and their peers.
Solution
We support children to take their voices from the playground to Parliament through our membership group Young NCB. Young NCB are involved in our research and campaigns, and even speak directly to the politicians who make decisions about their lives. We currently have 230 Young NCB members, with backgrounds and experiences including children with disabilities, children in care, LGBT young people, and young carers. We want to strengthen and expand this group to best represent children in the UK.
