We are seeking funding to replace 7 of the 14 beds on our inpatient unit. Over 290 patients are admitted to the unit per year to access symptom management or end of life care. Our aim is to make these vulnerable patients as comfortable as possible which starts with a bed which is fit for purpose.

We currently have 14 profiling beds on the unit which are now over 10 years old and due to constant use are continually malfunctioning. We can no longer obtain the parts required to repair the beds and often have to work around problems such as beds that don't adjust which can be a struggle for staff and unacceptable for our vulnerable patients. It is imperative for our patients and staff that the beds on our inpatient unit are fit for purpose so need to replace all 14 beds.

We would like to raise money to purchase 7 new hospice beds at a cost of £4,000 per bed. Since we purchased our current beds 10 years ago there have been significant improvements in profiling bed specifications which would benefit our patients enormously. Funding will allow us to purchase the 7 new profiling beds without adversely affecting the hospice financially.
