Situation
Women with convictions and young women care leavers are mostly overlooked by employers and often face multiple barriers to employment. In fact, only 9% of women leave prison with a secure job to go to. Unfortunately, the criminal justice system is a common point of contact for women with a history of abuse, domestic violence, homelessness, mental ill health and/or state care. Reoffending costs the taxpayer £15 billion each year and around 58% of women reoffend within one year of release.
Solution
Working Chance provides holistic rehabilitation and employment support for women with convictions and young women care leavers. Our pre-placement support ensures our candidates have the confidence, employability skills and interview techniques to enter the workplace. Our recruitment team matches candidates with roles that align with their skills and aspirations. And our in-work support provides our candidates and their employers with the support they need to flourish and progress their careers.
