We want to expand our support for women and men finding it difficult to cope with life after experiencing pregnancy loss. In 2018 demand for pregnancy loss support increased by 50% and we had a waiting list for the first time. We need to recruit, train and support new volunteers to meet demand.

While some people are able to cope after pregnancy loss, others find it difficult e.g. 64% of clients coming to Crossways for our pregnancy loss support are depressed. Feedback from our clients shows our support helps them overcome the low moods, anxiety, depression and even self-harm and suicidal feelings that they initially come to us with: at the end of the course 100% of clients report a reduction in symptoms of depression and anxiety with 80% reporting no or only one symptom.

We want to expand our pregnancy loss support to cope with increasing demand. Training for 4 volunteers to use Step by Step, a 10 step training programme for use with clients following abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, so that we have increased capacity to support to the increasing number of clients who need our support. We also need to continue training and supervision for existing listeners. We also want to continue promoting our pregnancy loss course so that those in need find help.
