In 2015 the Friends of Westminster Cathedral launched an appeal for the urgent refurbishment of the Cathedral Tower Lift and Viewing Gallery. The lift was restored and the project to restore and enhance the Viewing Gallery is now underway.

From the building of the Cathedral in the early 20th century the Tower has been an important component of the visitor experience to Westminster Cathedral. The tower was threatened with permanent closure and the Friends helped to solve the problems with the lift but now need to improve the Viewing Gallery so that it is accessible to all. When complete the Tower and Viewing Gallery will form part of a heritage/treasury package that will help to provide funds for the daily running of the Cathedral.

New information panels and improved lighting. We want the Tower Viewing Gallery to be an educational resource, in the context of the history of the Cathedral, London and artistic connections such as the use of the Cathedral in the Hitchcock films.
