Our project aims to collect and re-use 85 prosthetic legs that would otherwise end up in landfill – giving amputees in Africa the chance to walk again. Together let's reduce the pressures on our environment and get Africa back on its feet, one leg at a time.

The World Health Organisation highlights that only 10% of the estimated 6.5million amputees in Africa have the prosthetics needed to live functional lives. This is due to the scarcity of accessible prosthetics in terms of both supply and affordability. Furthermore, 5,000 artificial limbs are ending up in landfill every year - contributing to environmental degradation and climate change.

By providing parts that are no longer needed from donors and NHS Hospitals in the UK we can not only ensure that amputees have access to the technology they need to walk again but we can also stop artificial limbs from ending up in landfill - reducing pressures on the environment.
