We help children from low-income families reach their full potential through music, with a unique Scholarship programme. Our work supports children to become confident, creative individuals who are self-motivated and self-disciplined, and helps to develop in them a lifelong joy of music.

Situation
There is overwhelming evidence that learning an instrument not only produces well-rounded, confident children but it improves academic achievement particularly in maths and IT. However, despite 80% of primary school children saying they would like to continue to learn a musical instrument once free lessons in school stop, only 8% of parents can afford the cost of tuition. Our mission is to provide opportunities for as many aspiring young musicians as possible to enjoy their music.
Solution
We award 4 year scholarships to children based on musical potential, commitment and financial need. Our programme has been specifically designed to bridge the complex transition between primary and secondary school with the majority of recipients being 9-10 years old. Scholars receive a weekly 2 hr programme of sustained, high quality tuition delivered in borough to include an individual lesson, after school orchestra and choir, performance opportunities, the loan of an instrument and a mentor.
