Situation
“Only 2.1% of 15-year-olds in Cambodia ... reach a baseline level of performance in reading; (and) 2.7% ... in mathematics” (PISA-D, 2018). For 10 years, SeeBeyondBorders has worked at a grassroots level to improve student outcomes through improving teaching quality. SeeBeyondBorders believes that in order to continue to affect change, we now need to build our staff’s capacity to take their knowledge from the grassroots level to contribute to and influence education reform on a national scale.
Solution
SeeBeyondBorders will build the capacity of its staff through one-to-one coaching, group training, development of skills matrices and representation at government-level forums and meetings. We aim to ensure that our staff have the ability and confidence to influence and contribute to national education strategies, ensuring that SeeBeyondBorders affects change in schools across Cambodia. Staff will be able to use their grassroots experience to share and implement best practice more widely.
