Many families can face crisis moments such as unemployment, substance misuse, debt, illness, relationship breakdown. During these times some parents can struggle to provide a safe and caring environment for their children. If the parent or carer is isolated this risk is increased. Without the timely provision of respite, companionship and practical help these situations can, and frequently do break down. Safe Families for Children supports these families before they tip over into crisis.

We are a community led-approach to support struggling families who are at risk of breaking down. We train and connect local volunteers who are able to help with local families who need support. Safe Families volunteers offer hope & belonging; supporting families with overnight stays for children (planned or in an emergency), befriending & practical family resources Safe Families have delivered this model with over 3,500 families and 4,000 volunteers across 34 local authority areas in the UK.
