Our big idea is to help protect 50,000 square km of rainforest in the next 12 months. We believe the best way to do this is to secure the rights to land and livelihood of the indigenous peoples who have inhabited the area for centuries and let them control and manage the land.

Rainforest destruction is the 2nd largest man-made source of greenhouse gases, accounting for one-fifth of all Co2 emissions - more than the transport sector. It drives animals and plants to extinction, and threatens the livelihoods of 75 million peoples that live in or depend upon rainforests. Forest communities are often wrongly seen as the main causes of deforestation, where in fact they have developed ways of protecting their rainforest environments, which they depend on for survival.
Solution
