To ensure the key life saving nightly delivery of blood on board capability to two local air ambulance bases in order to serve the local NHS communities, can be maintained through 2021 and beyond and the service expanded further from our blood bike volunteers.

Situation
Each night a 100+ mile round trip takes place to deliver special blood products to Wiltshire Air Ambulance and blood products plus FFP (plasma) to Great Western Air Ambulance. This takes place on fully liveried blood bikes EVERY night of the year and is a key service . We want to ensure in the current environment our key link in this chain from NHS to Freewheelers Blood bikes to Air Ambulances to the local community who require critical care at the roadside can continue to be met..
Solution
This project will ensure the funds are available to keep the blood bike fleet operational 365 days of the year by covering the operational costs of regularly servicing the blood bikes to ensure they are fit for purpose and rider safety, plus ensure the kit carrying the blood and other related items remains fit for purpose.
