Our annual Christmas appeal aims to secure funding to help Londoners who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, by providing safe, secure, quality accommodation and the support they need to achieve independence. We want to make this the last Christmas someone spends without a home of their own.

Homelessness has no place in 21st century London. Yet, we are in the grip of a homelessness crisis; as a lack of affordable housing, insecure tenancies and welfare cuts force increasing numbers of people onto the capital's streets. Almost 5,000 people slept on the street on any one night in 2018.This is just the tip of the iceberg, thousands more are amongst the hidden homeless - sofa surfing, in bed & breakfasts or hostels. Hundreds of thousands are living in poverty on the brink homelessness.

SHP works to provide a long term solution rather than a quick fix for people who experience homelessness. We work with people to address the underlying causes of homelessness, such as mental-ill health, family breakdown, offending or drug and alcohol dependency. The funding will enable us to provide specialist support, including access to psychotherapy and education, training and employment opportunities, required to move away from homelessness for good.
