To develop new therapies to prevent the spread of prostate cancer.

Situation
The treatment and the outlook for men with advanced prostate cancer have changed little since hormone therapy was introduced over 60 years ago in the 1940s. New and more effective treatments are desperately needed for the 10,000 men dying every year in the UK due to prostate cancer. The key step in prostate cancer is the spread of the cancer out of the prostate - this step makes the difference between cure and failure. We want to develop two new therapies - prostate cancer stem cell therapy and treatment to delay or prevent the spread of prostate cancer. Our Appeal aims to raise £1.6 million to commission and fund world class research to develop these new treatments to improve the survival of men with advanced prostate cancer. This can be broken down into 4 projects of £400,000 each.
