This project will: - reduce isolation; - treat people as individuals, motivating and encouraging them to make their own decisions; - help them adjust to the physical, psychological and social adaptation to stroke-related disability and handicap; - empower stroke people to develop their full potential for community integration; - provide an opportunity to allow previous roles, skills and responsibilities to be recognised and used within the service and their local community; and - achieve significant increase in quality of life for stroke people and as importantly their carers. A broad programme of individualised activities will be organised such as: art work; cookery (emphasising healthy options); creative writing/poetry; IT skills; music; and much more. Workshops which will explore feelings and adaptation to handicap, career and finances will also be provided. In addition, we will be working with Relate Cymru who will provide relational and psychosexual counselling. For many couples, and individuals living with stroke the emotional, physical and psychological trauma can have a devastating effect on relationships.
