To provide supported accommodation with nurturing care and development to vulnerable four young mums or pregnant young women, aged 18-25, who have been rendered homeless and referred to Radcliffe Road Mother & Baby Unit.

This project will help prevent babies being unnecessarily being taken into care; in the last 15 months we have had 8 young mums, who, if they hadn’t come to BYPS, would have been at serious risk of having their child removed. We have had 2 admitted from giving birth at hospital. In these cases, the child would have gone to foster placement, had a room not been available.
Young mothers who are referred to Bolton Young Parents Service will live in bedsit type rooms in a residential house, with their babies. They are encouraged to live independent lives, within a controlled, nurturing environment enabled by experienced support workers who work 24/7. They will be guided into healthy routines and taught basic cooking, financial, health and personal skills to help them in their ultimate move to independence.
