The University of the Highlands and Islands is the only university based in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and offers access to higher education across the region and beyond. Prior to the establishment of the University, movement of individuals away from the region to attend university had a serious impact on the economy. The university, and its unique educational model, gives people the chance to fulfil their potential in their home communities.

The University will create a new Scholarship Fund, to provide support to help students overcome financial barriers and encourage individuals to progress their studies. This fund will not only help to create highly skilled individuals in the region but will also connect companies and local communities to the university, to ensure students can take advantage of current and future employment opportunities. No longer will geography be a barrier to success.
