Situation
The London International Piano Competition was founded to create a high-profile launchpad for outstandingly talented young pianists in the UK's capital city, and one of the most prestigious international cultural centres. The Competition has consistently attracted some of the best young pianists of their generation, and award winners have included Paul Lewis, Simon Trpceski, Leon McCawley, Ashley Wass, Antti Siirala, and Herbert Schuch. Most of the funds are in place, but only a modest shortfall of c.£60,000 remaining. General donations are welcomed but there are opportunities to support specific aspects of the Competition: 1st Prize (£15,000), 2nd Prize (£11,000), 3rd Prize (£7,000) and four Educational Awards of £2,000 each.
