healthy body, happy me - giving children the energy for play, learning and fun National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) has been promoting the importance of a healthy lifestyle for young children for many years. With the growing problem of obesity and health problems in children we are focusing our efforts to try and help children, families and nurseries stay healthy and happy. The ‘Healthy body, happy me’ campaign has been created to make sure that children have the energy for play, learning and fun. Healthy body, happy me incorporates NDNA’s existing campaigns of the Big Breakfast and Stop The Rot.

    Situation

Campaign aims: 1. Raise awareness of the importance of good health and its affect on the happiness of children We all know that a healthy child is a happy child, but the strains of the modern world can create unhealthy lifestyles for families. Convenience and processed food and the TV/computer culture have led to an increase in obesity, dental decay and health problems. NDNA wants to remind nurseries and parents that following a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be difficult – and showing children how to do this will make a real difference to their health and happiness, now and as they grow up. 2. Enable nurseries to help children stay healthy and happy NDNA is providing its member nurseries with advice and support to help them give the children they look after the best possible start in life. We are working with the Government and health experts to bring nurseries the latest information and resources. 3. Give children positive experiences of a healthy lifestyle The most important part of the campaign is to make sure that children receive positive experiences of a healthy lifestyle. This initiative is not just about information and education - all of our work will focus on enabling nurseries and families to give children the chance to participate in activities that are fun and that lead to a healthy body and a happy me.
