When education is all about exams and academic qualifications, many young people, especially low achievers and those from disadvantaged communities can be left behind. Practical enterprise education can re-ignite their interest in education and enable them to regain a sense of purpose and reach their potential. The Enterprise Education Trust works with young people of all abilities and backgrounds to give them practical employability skills, confidence and aspirations to achieve their potential in life. We want to treble the number of young people we reach from 90,000 to 270,000 within three years. The demand is there. We need funding to make it happen.

Many young people, especially those from low-income communities and disadvantaged areas are not given the opportunity to learn about enterprise. Often they do not get experience of business at home or from family networks. Nor do they learn how to speak the language of business so they are immediately at a disadvantage when they enter the workforce. Many teachers feel ill equipped, lack skills and experience to deliver enterprise education. They also lack adequate networks to the business sector in order to bring real life enterprise into the classroom. So schools need to find partners to provide tried and tested Programmes, business volunteers and funding to deliver inspiring enterprise learning and this is where the Enterprise Education Trust can deliver. The Enterprise Education Trust has thirty years experience of working with schools and we tailor our programmes for young people from all backgrounds, disadvantaged, special needs, gifted and talented and young offenders. We enable young people to gain key employability skills and a ‘can do’ attitude that employers seek. Our Programmes are:- businessdynamics’ programmes use business volunteers as role models to inspire young people by delivering one and two day Programmes in schools. NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) trains teachers to deliver a business start-up and personal development programme where students run their own business at school. Blue Skies is our interactive, multimedia road show which helps students understand how running their own business can become a reality. Achievers International gives students a unique insight into the global economy. UK students trade online with schools overseas, developing their entrepreneurial, ICT, communication and modern language skills.
