Start up costs for Teenage Mothers Ribbon Sandal business. We had a trail in August and they sold well so would like to expand the project to sell more products in Uganda and create a sustainable business.
Lack of employment opportunities and jobs for teenage mothers who finished school early. Twenty five per cent of adolescent girls of 15 to 19 years in Uganda have begun child-bearing. The social stigmas get worse if the girl did not complete her education yet. If a girl gets pregnant she drops out of school directly and after giving birth, often they are not able to reintegrate again for completing their education. As a result of that they struggle a lot to find employment.
The Ribbon Sandal business will provide teenage mothers with training in a new skill. They will be able to work hours around their baby and also from home with other teenage mothers. The Ribbon Sandal business is a wonderful venture due to the amount of profit which can be made in Uganda selling the products but also in the UK for fundraising purposes. The project will also help break the stigma that as a teenage mother you cannot provide for your own family as they will be earning money.
