With arts funding becoming such a competitive environment, classical music is in a dangerous position as it continues to be viewed as one of the most inaccessible of the arts. Meanwhile, exposure to classical music within the education system and through mass media rarely generates sufficient interest to overcome the forbidding atmosphere of the Concert Hall. Attempts to overcome this often result in a dilution of the artistic ideals of the project which does little to help the cause.
We believe that quality classical music is fantastic and can be appreciated by anyone, but we recognise that some people need clues outside of the music to guide them on their way and provide context. By immersing them in a cross-art "experience" we will dispel many of the uncertainties felt by less experienced listeners, thereby fostering a new audience of people who feel as passionately as us about music.
