After 9 years in Falmouth, CFF will celebrate its 10th Birthday in Newquay in 2011, in order to reach a new audience in an under-served area of Cornwall. The project will enable more people to access Cornwall's only major film festival & help foster community cohesion through cultural activity.

Newquay, which has been without a cinema for 16 years, is in severe need of a cultural 'face lift'. The town of Newquay has developed a reputation as the 'booze-fuelled party capital of the UK', renowned for stag and hen parties, under-aged drinking and anti social behaviour. The existing art scene in the area is largely ignored and there is a desperate need to up the cultural offering in Newquay to change local and national perceptions of this beautiful coastal town and its people.

CFF will bring a major cultural event to add to Newquay's offering. In the process of organising this event we will be engaging the local community through pre-festival screening events & workshops. We will be working with existing groups to promote cultural activity in Newquay & show a different side to the town. CFF will provide professional development & networking opportunities for local residents, cultivating a new audience, as well as attracting 'cultural tourists' to the town
