Hundreds of our local people suffer from undiagnosed diabetes, coronary heart disease, peri-natal complications and mental health problems. We want to raise awareness of health issues, help to get these conditions treated and prevent potential blindness, heart attacks and infant mortality!

Situation
Research shows that BME communities suffer from higher rates of stroke, coronary heart disease and infant mortality; it also suggests that access to healthcare services is difficult for these groups due to institutional racism, negative experiences and lack of information. Aims: 1. Train volunteers to become Community Health Champions who can provide their community with bespoke prevention messages 2. Train volunteer befrienders and mentors to support individuals and families to make vital lifestyle changes 3.
