Building on its hugely successful track record, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is opening a new children’s hospice, called Grace’s Place. We are working hard to raise funds to purchase critical equipment to ensure we can begin caring for children in North Manchester with life shortening condition
The need for Grace’s Place was established some years ago. In North Manchester there are more than 650 children living with life shortening conditions. The vast majority of these children are not receiving support from a children’s hospice, as the nearest hospices are many miles to the north (Derian House) or South (Francis House). The local community, care professionals and the families waiting for care have for many years been strong supporters of Grace’s Place and continue to be so.
For us Hospice at Home means providing weekly planned respite for children living with life shortening conditions and their families in their own homes. Families tell us that while the hospice is a special place for them to come to it is the weekly care and support they receive at home which makes a massive difference. Hospice at Home will be a really significant part of what we do for children and families in North Manchester and surrounding areas.
