The Little Brigs provide young people of all backgrounds and abilities the ultimate tall ship sailing experience. We are aiming to take this experience to places that would not normally have this opportunity.

The Little Brig Sailing Trust is based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight and is able to provide complete the Tall Ship Sailing experience for young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged backgrounds. Due to the small size of the Tall Ships the Trust is able to transport them to various parts of the country to provide this experience to areas which would not normally have this chance. In some cases these will be inland waterways, docks and reservoirs. To do this the trust needs to raise money for transportation by lorry and to cover other costs incurred by operating in different ports. Because the Brigs are relatively small they are low cost to operate. To keep running costs low most of the Trust’s work is carried out by volunteers from paint scrapers to deckhands. The Trust aims to take about 1000 young people sailing each year. By raising this money we can visit many parts of the UK from the North East and North West to Wales and the South West. We can target areas with most need and areas that would not normally have an opportunity like this. A good example is our visit to London Dock Lands to take young people from Tower Hamlets sailing. Over a period of ten days we will take nearly 300 young people out on the water.
