Robin House children's hospice in Loch Lomond is 10 this year. The complexity of palliative care, increasing referral numbers and evolving needs of babies, children, young people mean that it urgently needs to be upgraded so that we continue to offer the best multi-disciplinary care and support.

The hospice's design is limiting its day to day use. Additionally, children's care is becoming more complex and has evolved significantly since Robin House opened in 2005. Staff numbers have almost doubled since 2005 due to increased complexity of care and increased referrals. We are supporting an increased number of bereaved families every year. Space is limited, particularly for older teenagers, and not all areas are accessible to children with more complex needs and bulky medical equipment.

'The Place for Me' will extend shared spaces and create a new Activity Room, Art Room, under 13s den, a gaming zone, and messy play. These adjustments will enable Robin House to provide opportunities for fun and enjoyment that will enable each child and their families to live life to the full, however short. The larger more flexible spaces will allow increased opportunity for individual and group play, quiet reflection, and crucial private space for our older teenagers who need independence.
